Boston law firm Casner & Edwards announces that attorneys Michael J. Goldberg and Lynne F. Riley were selected for the 2022 Lawdragon List of 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers. The guide highlights those attorneys who “dazzle in financial restructuring, whether in court or out.” The guide was published on January 14, 2022.
Goldberg specializes in the areas of business bankruptcy, financial restructuring, and business transactions as well as commercial real estate transactions. In his over 35 years of practice, he has represented a broad spectrum of clients in insolvency matters, including debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors, and investors. His clients cut across a wide range of industry types, including real estate developers, high-tech, senior living and healthcare companies, medical practice groups, and nonprofit institutions. Goldberg has also served as counsel to purchasers and sellers of industrial, office and multifamily real estate, with a particular expertise in real estate financing. He is also a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy topics, particularly on the impact of bankruptcy issues on real estate transactions.
With 30 years of experience, Riley represents debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, trustees, and plan administrators in all types of business and consumer bankruptcy proceedings. She served on the panel of chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the District of Massachusetts since 1995. She also serves as operating trustee and examiner in chapter 11 cases, and as creditor trustee under chapter 11 liquidation and reorganization plans. Riley has argued numerous appeals before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the First Circuit, and has authored amicus briefs for the United States Supreme Court, the First Circuit and the Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals on significant bankruptcy issues. Her trial and appellate work as counsel and trustee has generated numerous published opinions.
