Casner Women's Initiative

Where Women Attorneys Flourish

Casner & Edwards is dedicated to the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women attorneys, and to ensuring a positive and supportive environment for the firm's women attorneys. The main goals of our Women's Initiative program are to enhance professional opportunities for women lawyers in and outside the firm, and to encourage active leadership in professional and civic organizations in the business and charitable communities.

Part of the Fabric of the Firm

Casner’s commitment to the firm’s women lawyers is a long-held core value that is a part of our overall dedication to diversity. Our firm is fortunate to have a strong group of female attorneys at both the partner and associate levels. Forty percent of our legal team are women, which consistently surpasses the national average for law firms. In addition, representation by women in the firm’s management ranks continues to increase.

Casner Women’s Initiative

The Casner Women’s Initiative addresses issues of importance to women at the firm. Business development and networking are key components of the committee’s focus and committee members work to create and nurture new connections to support each other’s practices.

The Women’s Committee produces and oversees a number of programs, including:

  • Holds regular committee meetings where women attorneys can exchange ideas and share strategies for success;

  • Hosts a variety of events to provide forums for interacting with businesswomen, corporate counsel, and various women's organizations in the region;

  • Holds educational programs that feature prominent women business and community leaders;

  • Organizes social events for the firm’s women attorneys; and

  • Supports charitable organizations that help women in need.

Accomplished Women

Many of our women attorneys are honored for their accomplishments and contributions. These attorneys have been recognized by:

  • The Best Lawyers in America

  • Chambers & Partners

  • Super Lawyers

  • Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly “Top Women of Law”

They are also involved in their communities as volunteers, board members for nonprofit organizations, and various extracurricular activities in the arts and sports.
