Boston law firm Casner & Edwards, LLP announces that attorney Michael J. Goldberg was recently appointed as the Regent for the First Circuit of the American College of Bankruptcy at its annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
Goldberg specializes in the areas of business bankruptcy, financial restructuring and business transactions as well as commercial real estate transactions. In his over 25 years of practice, Goldberg has represented a broad spectrum of clients in insolvency matters, including debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, assignees, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors, and investors. His clients cut across a wide range of industry types, including high-tech and biomedical device companies, medical practice groups, and nonprofit institutions. He has also served as counsel to purchasers and sellers of industrial, office and multifamily real estate, with a particular expertise in real estate financing. He is also a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy topics, particularly on the impact of bankruptcy issues on real estate transactions.
The American College of Bankruptcy is an honorary professional and educational association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals which plays an important role in sustaining professional excellence through education, scholarship, and the highest standards of practice. College Fellows include commercial and consumer bankruptcy attorneys, insolvency accountants, turnaround and workout specialists, law professors, judges, government officials and others involved in the bankruptcy and insolvency community. The Board of Regents is responsible for nomination and selection of qualified candidates to fellowship in the College. One Regent is appointed from each of eleven federal judicial circuits and three Regents are appointed At Large. Each Regent of a federal judicial circuit serves as Chair of its Circuit Admissions Council. The Board of Regents has the sole authority to elect Fellows to the College.
