Casner & Edwards Issues Third Report on Sexual Misconduct at St. Paul's School

On August 16, 2018, Casner & Edwards attorneys Scott Harshbarger, Edward V. Colbert III, and Carmen F. Francella III produced a Second Supplement to their final report of May 17, 2017 for St. Paul’s School (SPS). Since being engaged by SPS in May 2016, Casner & Edwards has produced three reports on sexual misconduct covering a period of sixty years, 1948 to 2008. In the more than two years that Casner & Edwards has conducted this comprehensive independent investigation for SPS, they have attempted to or did contact one hundred ninety-two (192) individuals. They interviewed sixty-seven (67) victims and fifty-one (51) witnesses, and substantiated allegations of sexual misconduct against twenty (20) former faculty and staff members.

The depth of their independent investigation is a testament to the current administration at SPS, and would not have been possible without the courage and leadership of former Rector Michael G. Hirschfeld, Interim Rector Amy C. Richards, Board President Archibald Cox, Jr., as well as many other current administrators. SPS’s decision to publicly release the three Casner & Edwards reports helped many victims and witnesses to come forward and recognize that they were not alone. Casner & Edwards thanks SPS for its full cooperation and commitment to this independent investigation, and commends the victims and witnesses who have been willing to share their experiences in the interest of protecting and enhancing the health and safety of those who entrust their educational and social lives to SPS.
