Casner & Edwards Attorneys Joanne E. Romanow and Viktor A. Theiss Presented at BBA Seminar “CLE – Handling a 209A Case”



Casner & Edwards’ attorneys Joanne E. Romanow and Viktor A. Theiss spoke at the Boston Bar Association (BBA) CLE Seminar, “Handling a 209A Case,” March 2nd at the BBA offices. Romanow served as the moderator, and Theiss was a panelist.

The seminar addressed:
  • assisting clients in the filing of a 209A Complaint and seeking a restraining order
  • assisting clients when served with a 209A Complaint and restraining order
  • how to prepare for and prosecute or defendant a 209A Complaint
  • what to do when a complaint is filed in the District Court during the pendency of a divorce action or vice versa
The seminar also discussed how to address the issue of custody and parenting time when there is a 209A order and jurisdictional issues related to 209A orders.

Romanow handles high-conflict disputes in family law. Her practice encompasses all aspects of domestic relations and probate litigation, including divorce, custody, modification, child support, paternity, guardianship, and will contests. Romanow handles a variety of litigation involving asset division, complex business valuation, inheritances, custody disputes, domestic violence and non-traditional family structure. She has been appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem by the Probate and Family Court and regularly serves as parent coordinator in high conflict cases. She has also acted as a mediator and conciliator in domestic relations matters.

Theiss specializes in all aspects of domestic relations litigation, including divorce, custody, modification, child support, paternity, prenuptial agreements, probating of wills and will contests. Additionally, Theiss has been appointed by the Probate and Family Court as a Guardian Ad Litem in divorce and custody dispute matters.
