A. Davis Whitesell is of counsel to Casner & Edwards, LLP, providing experience and expertise to the firm's business reorganization practice. Mr. Whitesell has over 25 years experience practicing corporate bankruptcy and reorganization law.
Before joining Casner & Edwards, LLP, Mr. Whitesell was a partner with Boston's leading boutique law firm specializing in the problems of financially distressed companies.
Mr. Whitesell has extensive experience in representing and advising companies and individuals in Chapter 11 reorganizations, out-of-court debt restructurings, acquisition and disposition of distressed businesses, and related insolvency and transactional matters. He has represented debtors, trustees, creditors' committees, landlords, creditors, and acquirors in Chapter 11 cases for businesses involved in Internet marketing, real estate development, plastic packaging manufacturing, convenience store/gas station operations, health care, solid waste disposal, and electric utility operations. Mr. Whitesell is particularly capable in negotiation and documentation of restructuring and commercial transactions, including Chapter 11 plans, purchase and sale agreements, workout and forbearance agreements, settlement agreements, and manifold business contracts.
Mr. Whitesell is listed in Best Lawyers in America and in Massachusetts Super Lawyers. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Boston Bar Association, and the Turnaround Management Association. He has lectured and prepared written materials on bankruptcy and commercial law topics, including for programs sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute, MCLE, and NBI.
Mr. Whitesell received his B.A. cum laude in 1979 from Harvard University and his J.D. in 1985 from Boston University School of Law.
