Haskell A. Kassler

Mr. Kassler is the senior member of our Family and Probate Law Group.
 
He is an active practitioner in all aspects of family law as well as probate litigation.  Mr. Kassler has also serves regulary as a conciliator and mediator in high conflict cases and has handled unique appeals in both the family law and probate areas.  He is also an AAML certified arbitrator and a member of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation.

Over 30 years ago he was selected to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), a national organization of family law specialists. Since then he has served in various positions in the national and state organization including President of the Massachusetts Chapter.

Since its inception over 25 years ago, he has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the publication “The Best Lawyers in America®” in the Family Law group. Mr. Kassler is also the past recipient of the Massachusetts Chapter, Judge Haskell C. Freedman Award of AAML “.. service to the Bench & Bar and the advancement of the Practice of Family Law”. From its founding in 1998, Mr. Kassler has been a member of the Massachusetts Family & Probate American Inn of Court. Mr. Kassler has been frequently named as a “Super Lawyer®” in the Boston Magazine publication and has also been selected as one of the top 100 Lawyers in Massachusetts.  Mr. Kassler has also authored several articles on various Family Law issues and was the co-editor of the Massachusetts Family Law Manual (MCLE publication).

In addition to his family law practice, Mr. Kassler has handled numerous disputed election law matters including recounts and the litigation that has followed them. Several of the cases he has handled have established and clarified the existing law of Massachusetts.  He has participated in significant recounts in other states and has written numerous articles and lectured on election law and his experiences. He has also written and lectured on election law matters.

Active in community affairs, Mr. Kassler received appointments as Chairman, Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Committee; Trustee, University of Massachusetts; member, University of Massachusetts Building Commission; and Chairman, Massachusetts Local Redistricting Commission. In his home town, Mr. Kassler was an elected Town Meeting Member for over twenty-five years and was also elected to the Board of Selectmen.

Mr. Kassler received his BA from Tufts University and his JD in from Boston University School of Law. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, 1st and 5th Circuits; U.S. District Courts of Massachusetts, Northern Mississippi and Southern Louisiana; and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
