Michael J. Goldberg
Michael J. Goldberg is a partner in the firm Casner & Edwards LLP, where he specializes in the areas of business bankruptcy, financial restructuring and business transactions (in particular, real estate financing transactions). He received his B.A. cum laude from Yale University in 1978, and his J.D. cum laude from Fordham Law School in 1986. A member of the Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey bars, Mr. Goldberg is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy topics, particularly on the impact of bankruptcy issues on real estate transactions.
Since 2004, he has co-chaired the "Bankruptcy Law Forum," the flagship bankruptcy program of Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education. He has also chaired MCLE's "Bankruptcy for Real Estate Lawyers" program, and is a contributor to the treatise Chapter 11 Theory and Practice: A Guide to Reorganization. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute (and Co-Chair of its Real Estate Committee); the Turnaround Management Association (and the Vice President/President-Elect of its Northeast Chapter); and the Boston Bar Association (Bankruptcy Section). He is also a Director of the Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association (REBA), and Co-Chair of its Legislation Committee. In connection with his work for REBA, he has most recently coordinated REBA's efforts in reforming the Massachusetts homestead laws.
In addition to his professional affiliations, Mr. Goldberg is a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Beth Elohim, Wellesley, Massachusetts, and a former President of the Greater Boston Chapter of the American Jewish Committee.
Mr. Goldberg is listed in Chambers USA®, Best Lawyers in America® and Massachusetts and New England Superlawyers® (where he is ranked as one of New England’s “Top 100” lawyers). He is also an adjunct professor at Northeastern University Law School, located in Boston, Massachusetts.
